Simple question and explain a bit if you can, i wanna be like you and what you do. Go to college or no? I'm a senior. Im well aware the basics of success in photography but wanted to know your take on doing college or not.
Don’t be like me, be yourself. I’m going to college to become a better writer and journalist; I don’t study photography. Go to college and explore different things, take classes you would never dare, figure out what you really want to do before ditching school.
how many of your subjects do you know personally? and for the ones that you do not know well, how do you enter their lives to receive the opportunity to capture them in such a personal light?anyway, your work makes me emotional, haha. really, you and your camera lens have a lot power. xxx
90% of my subjects are ones that I know personally. I usually comment on a thing the person is wearing or something about them that intrigues me. From their response, I can begin to tell how open they are and the rest is magic. Just go with the flow. If you’re photographing a homeless person, step down to their level and make them feel like you’re right there with them, sit on the floor, drink a beer with them, do whatever you can to make them feel comfortable around you.
